The Association is saddened by the news of the anti-Muslim attack in London, Ontario. While this is a tragedy felt across the country, the engineering profession has lost a bright star who treasured education, female advancement, equality, and research in Madiha Salman, one of the victims. Madiha graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in Pakistan. In Canada, she obtained a master's degree at Western University and was working on her PhD. We offer our sincerest condolences to everyone affected by this tragic event. To learn more, see the CBC News website.

International Women in Engineering Day
On June 23, join us as we observe International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), the world's biggest initiative celebrating the achievements of women in engineering and allied roles. See the news story to download the 2021 INWED selfie cards and post your photo and message on social media. This year's theme is Engineering Heroes. See below for more information about two casual, one-hour virtual networking events to recognize and celebrate our engineering heroes.
Professional Development Opportunities

Engineering is a critical part of the pandemic response and the medical field in general, increasing tools used for detection, treatment, and safety, but we don't always get to hear about it. Join Heather Smart, P.Eng., and Alanna Gray, EIT, part of a team producing and ensuring the quality of COVID-19 nasopharyngeal swabs and reusable N95 respirators - two products their company did not manufacture before 2020, as they share more about their work during the pandemic.
